VEGAPULS C 11: The Superior Radar Alternative to Ultrasonic Sensors

Overview and Application:

The VEGAPULS C 11 is a highly accurate radar level sensor designed as a superior quality replacement for traditional ultrasonic sensors, particularly in water management and wastewater measurement applications.

Its robust, waterproof housing with IP68 protection ensures long-term, maintenance-free operation, especially in harsh environments like underground wells and pump stations. The compact design and axial cable outlet allow for flexible installation.

The sensor can be applied for non-contact level measurement of liquids and for maintenance-free operation in small vessels or containers with bulk solids.

Measuring Principle (FMCW Radar Technology):

The sensor transmits a frequency-modulated radar signal via the antenna system. The frequency of the signal changes saw-tooth-like. The transmitted signal, reflected by the medium, is received by the antenna as an echo signal with a changing frequency. The difference in frequency between the transmitted and received signals is proportional to the measured distance, thus dependent on the filling level.
